Assessment
Prior to starting the EBP process, you should assess the patient, situation, and clinical need. In this stage you will assess the patient to determine all the pertinent issues -- this may include a differential diagnosis, treatment decisions, or prognosis.
The assessment stage allows you to determine if you should start with EBP process. You must decide through expertise, history taking, and patient interaction what type of clinical question is under investigation.
